  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

β-Ureido-β-(β-naphthyl)-propionic acid,β-(ω-phenylureido)-β-(β-naphthyl)-propionic acid, andβ-(N1-methylureido)-β-(β-nepthyl)propionic acid have been prepared, and have been converted into the corresponding 2,4-dioxo-hexahydropyrimidine derivatives 6-(β-naphthyl)-dihydrouracil, 3-phenyl-6-(β-naphthyl)-dihydrouracil, and 6-(β-nappthyl)-1-methyl-dihydrouracil.

  2. 2.

Its amide was formed as a by-product of preparation ofβ-ureido-β-(β-napthyl)-propionic acid, and was also synthesized fromβ-amino-β-(β-napthyl)-propionic acid and sodium cyanate.

  3. 3.

    β-Ureido-β-(β-naphtyhl)-propionamide undergoes cyclization when heated.

  4. 4.

    Methyl-β-(ω-phenylureido)-β-(β-napthyl)-propionate has been prepared.

  5. 5.

2-Thio-6-(β-napthyl)-dihydrouracil,β-guanidino-β-(β-napthyl)-propionic acid, and 4-oxo-β-(β-naphthyl)-2-methyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidine have been synthesized.
