Summary

Arrays of longitudinally arranged tubular structures were found in the axoplasm of larger myelinated nerve fibres traversing the granular layer of the rat cerebellum. Such arrays were more common in an older normal rat than in younger animals but were especially frequent in rats suffering from scrapie. To the walls of the individual tubules ribosome-like particles were attached.
