Abstract
Some important premises in reaction sintering, which compacts ceramics due to chemical reactions accompanied by a positive volume effect were examined. A calculated and graphic interpretation of the process was given and can be used to predict compaction in reaction sintering. Concrete examples of the use of reaction sintering applied to ceramics technology based on compounds of the Si-C-O-N system were given.
