Abstract
The vibration frequencies of some phosphate esters have been measured in the 900–1400 cm−1 region. Only some show a correlation between the P=O vibration frequencies and the Taft polar constants. It is concluded that the polar effect of the substituents is the main factor affecting the P=O vibration frequencies, but not the only one.
