Arterial cell renewal under hyperlipidemic conditions

Summary

The renewal of arterial cells under various hyper- and normo-lipidemic conditions has been studied by 3H-thymidine autoradiography. In hyper-lipidemia the endothelium shows a greater propensity to proliferate than in normo-lipidemia, but in both conditions the smooth muscle cells of the tunica media also proliferate when the intima is injured.
