Summary

Forty advanced laryngeal and laryngopharyngeal carcinomas were investigated by computed tomography prior to surgical procedure. The operative specimens were examined by histology using serial horizontal sections. We tried to correlate the histological spread of the carcinomas and the findings of computed tomography. Especially the possibilities of CT are demonstrated with reference to cancer spread into and through the laryngeal framework.

The danger of malinterpretation will be demonstrated by any examples.
