Summary
130.5 mg of almost pure corpora amylacea was isolated from lyophilized tissue of 35 human brains obtained by autopsy. Staining shaved this material to be homogenous. The greater part of this material is composed of carbohydrates, whereas the protein- and lipid content is small. With regard to composition, one can take for granted that this material is different from amyloid and from the corpora amylacea of the prostatic gland. It may be assumed that corpora amylacea of the brain are caused by the glucose requirement of the brain being reduced, while the supply of glucose for the brain is normal.
Zusammenfassung
Aus gefriergetrocknetem Hirngewebe von 35 Verstorbenen wurden 130,5 mg praktisch reiner Corpora amylacea isoliert. Diese erwiesen sich färberisch als einheitlich. In ihrer Zusammensetzung überwiegt der Kohlenhydratanteil, während der Protein- und Lipidanteil relativ klein sind. Aufgrund ihrer Zusammensetzung unterscheiden sie sich eindeutig vom Amyloid, aber auch von den Corpora amylacea der Prostata. Für die Entstehung der Corpora amylacea im Gehirn wird als wesentliche mitbestimmende Ursache ein gegenüber dem Glukoseangebot verminderter Glukosebedarf des Gehirns diskutiert.
