Abstract
Aqueous extracts of 293 species of higher fungi were tested for the presence of hemolysins and agglutinins. Of each species several samples — altogether 829 — of differing origin were tested if possible.
Hemolysins or agglutinins were present in each order or family, provided that a sufficient number of samples was examined. Hemolysins were strikingly frequent in Hygrophoraceae and Strophariaceae, in Mycena and Oudemansiella, and in Hebeloma and Gymnopilus. On the other hand, they were found very rarely in Boletaceae and in the genus Russula.
As the season proceeded, more hemolysin-containing samples were found. Agglutinins were not detected prior to September. When mushrooms of the same species and from the same mycelium were examined repeatedly, the samples found later in the year contained more hemolysin. On the other hand, on the same day and in the same location, both active and inactive samples were sometimes gathered from different mycelia.
The hemolysins of various species do not seem to be identical.
In jeder Familie bzw.
