Summary
A method is described for the sequential study of synaptonemal complexes by light and electron microscopy. The method is easy, permits one to determine the geometry of chromosome pairing, and should become a routine procedure in the diagnosis of human male subfertility. It should also be useful to establish the risk of recurrence of chromosome aberrations in the progeny of carriers of chromosome rearrangements.
