Abstract

We give charactezations of several families of capacities and characterizations of comparisons of belief, which are representable by those families. For that, de Finetti’s metaphor of coherent bets is adapted to the case of partial information and partially resolvable uncertainty. In decision problems, where the uncertainty is represented by any capacity, similar characterizations for representing partial preferences by a linear utility or a Choquet integral are given.
