Abstract
One of the main tenets of sustainable commercial forest management is to maintain and enhance the capability of forest sites to produce successive rotations of crops at or greater than the base level of productivity that existed prior to management, using cost effective and environmentally sound methods. Wise management of production forests is essential if we are to ensure that future generations will be able to derive the same, if not more, resources from the land than were derived by preceding generations.
