Abstract

It is given an introductory presentation of the main effects induced by the irradiation with energetic (keV-MeV) ions in ices and ice mixtures of astrophysical interest through the description of a selection of experimental results, obtained in the laboratory in a sort of “simulation” of some conditions encountered in space, and it is also given a brief presentation of a selected number of applications of such effects to some astrophysical scenarios.
