Abstract

Attempts were made for the prevention and correction of Fe-deficiency chlorosis of groundnut, in the field, by application of iron-containing fertilizers in calcareous soils. Soil application of 20 kg Fe ha-1 as pyrite- 50% basal and 25% each at 30 and 50 DAE, prevented chlorosis and increased chlorophyll contents in leaves and pod yield. The chlorosis of the standing crop in field were corrected by foliar application of 0.1% aqueous solution of Fe applied at 2 kg Fe ha-1, either as iron citrate or as iron sulphate + 400 g ha-1 citric acid (0.02%), in four equal splits at 30, 45, 60 and 75 DAE.
