Part of the book series: RILEM State of the Art Reports ((RILEM,volume 2))

Abstract

This paper presents a study of the behavior of ultra high performance fiber reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) precast segmental bridges, focusing on the response of joint types under shear, in service and ultimate limit states. Tests have been performed on UHPFRC segment with different levels of lateral average stress, evaluating the behavior of epoxy joints under direct shear. The possible benefit of using joint method is also evaluated in view of joint efficiency. The results obtained in these tests, as well as those found in the literature, have been compared with several design formulae for assessing the joint shear strength of precast segment, identifying the formula that gives the best predictions.
