Ethnische Ungleichheiten im Bildungsverlauf

Zusammenfassung

Das Kapitel geht der Frage nach, ob Nachbarschaften eigenständige Effekte auf individuelle Bildungserfolge haben. Schwierig ist dabei vor allem, Effekte der Nachbarschaften von nicht berücksichtigten Eigenschaften der Individuen und Haushalte, sowie von den Effekten anderer Kontexte, insbesondere der Schulen, abzugrenzen. Dies hat hohe Datenanforderungen an entsprechende Analysen zur Folge. Die vorhandenen Studien für Europa und die USA sowie eine Studie für Deutschland berichten fast durchweg Nachbarschafts effekte, die im Vergleich zu individuellen Effekten aber relativ schwach sind. Zudem wird der Zusammenhang zwischen ethnischer oder sozialer Zusammensetzung des Wohnortes und der Zusammensetzung in den entsprechenden Schulen dargestellt. Die vorhandenen Studien für Deutschland stellen fest, dass Schulwahlen ethnische und soziale Wohnsegregation noch einmal verstärken.
