Ethnische Nachbarschaftskomposition und die Entwicklung einwanderungsbezogener Sorgen in Zeiten starker Zuwanderung

Zusammenfassung

Lokale Erfahrungen mit Gruppen anderer ethnischer Herkunft werden von Kontakt- und Bedrohungsansätzen als ein wichtiger Erklärungsfaktor für Einstellungen gegenüber ethnischen Minderheiten genannt. Beide Ansätze gehen auch davon aus, dass Einstellungen zu bestimmten ethnischen Gruppen auf allgemeinere Herkunftsgruppen, wie etwa Einwanderer im Allgemeinen, übertragen werden. In diesem Beitrag wird untersucht, ob die wahrgenommene ethnische Vielfalt in Wohnvierteln von Einzelpersonen die Reaktion auf die europäische Flüchtlingskrise in Bezug auf zuwanderungsbezogene Sorgen verändert. Anhand Daten des sozioökonomischen Panels von 2009 bis 2016 werden Verläufe zuwanderungsbezogener Sorgen untersucht. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass alle Personen unabhängig von ihrer wahrgenommenen Nachbarschaftskomposition ähnliche Aufwärtstrends in zuwanderungsbezogenen Sorgen zeigen. Die Ergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass frühere Erfahrungen mit ethnischen Herkunftsgruppen im eigenen sozialen Umfeld die Reaktionen auf größere, politisch saliente Einwanderungsströme nur geringfügig moderieren.

    Ebenso sollte erwähnt werden, dass auch bei starken Intergruppenkonflikten in diversen Nachbarschaften eine Abschwächung des Periodeneffekts erfolgen könnte. In diesem Fall wären Personen mit Konflikterfahrungen schon so besorgt über Immigration im Generellen, dass die erhöhte Salienz des Themas zu diesen Sorgen wenig hinzuzufügen hat.

    Allerdings stellt Hopkins keine Annahmen darüber auf, wie saliente Themen wie die Flüchtlingsdebatte einen Einfluss auf die Politisierung von Verhältnissen von Gruppen haben die bereits in einem Land leben und die nicht, im Gegensatz zu den Geflüchteten, erst neu ankommen.
