Zusammenfassung

Unter Produktivität wird im weitesten Sinne die Summe produktiver Maßnahmen und Verhaltensweisen verstanden. Produktivität ist gleichzeitig die Voraussetzung für dauerhaftes Überleben von Organismen. Der Begriff findet in verschiedenen Disziplinen Verwendung: In der Ökologie wird die Fitness einer Spezies durch ihre Produktivität bestimmt (Townsend, Harper & Begon, 2003). In der Psychologie wird Produktivität mit Glück in Verbindung gebracht und dieses als grundlegende Handlungsmotivation angesehen. Erich Fromm definiert Produktivität als »die Realisierung der dem Menschen eigenen Möglichkeiten, also den Gebrauch der eigenen Kräfte« (Fromm, 1947, S. 59). In der Volkswirtschaftslehre wird unter Produktivität das (Mengen-) Verhältnis zwischen erzeugten Gütern und dafür investierten Mitteln verstanden (Stocker, 2004). Mit wachsender Produktivität steigt der Wohlstand.
