Abstract

Emissions from motor vehicles are the main cause of declining air quality in cities in Europe, China, Asia etc. The state of atmospheric air in Kharkiv is analyzed. One of the main sources of pollution in Kharkiv is vehicle emissions. The most polluted areas of the city of Kharkiv were identified regardint to the observations of the Kharkiv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology due to the AQI. Research during quarantine Covid19 showed that level of air pollution has decreased. Analysis of the methods and measures to reduce emissions of air pollutants has shown that they are unsystematic. This chapter focuses on the systematic optimization of measures considering the technical requirements of cars, drivers and sanitary requirements of pedestrians, that can be used to prescribe appropriate measures at different stages of the system “road–environment” operation. Offered method is illustrated by an example on the experimental section of Jubilee Avenue in the city of Kharkiv and were proposed the urban planning measures for re-duce emissions of air pollutants.
