Abstract
Numerous anatomical variations of the vertebral artery (VA) have been reported in the literature. Most of the time, these variations are not clinically relevant. However, having their knowledge is especially important to look for on preoperative workup. This step is the mandatory prerequisite for working in safe conditions with the lowest risk of VA injury due to an aberrant course.
