Abstract
The year 1978 marks the 75th anniversary of the birth of Gregory Goodwin Pincus, whose memory we honor in this Symposium. All of us are familiar with his contributions to science and to humanity; those of us who had the privilege of knowing him personally feel a special satisfaction in being able to participate in this tribute.
