Abstract

Interest in neon as an effective refrigerant for use with infra-red detectors, minicooiers and magnets has recently prompted a literature survey to determine the availability of useful design properties. One of the most useful means of displaying thermodynamic properties over a wide range of temperatures for a gas is a temperature-entropy chart. No such chart for neon (covering the temperature range 27–300°K) was found in the literature. Consequently an attempt was made, at the University of Colorado, to bring the necessary information together for the construction of a preliminary T-S chart for neon.

Not presented at the 1960 Cryogenic Engineering Conference.
