Abstract
Possible mechanisms are considered for exciting green and red emission with infrared in crystals doped with Yb3+ and Er3+. Excitation spectra and decay times are used in evaluating mechanisms. The analysis is applied to α-NaYF4:Yb3+, Er3+.
