Abstract

Most educators who understand recent advances in computer technology would agree that computers have enormous potential to help teachers educate children more effectively. Even those who are pessimistic about current instructional uses of computers (e.g., Woodward & Carnine, 1988) are optimistic that future developments may prove much more effective. Although there is general agreement about the potential of computers as an educational tool, there is considerable controversy surrounding the question of which specific uses of computers with young children will prove most effective over the long-term.
