Complete nucleotide sequence of a divergent variant of grapevine fabavirus from northeastern China

Abstract

Grapevine fabavirus (GFabV) was identified in the ‘Xiangfei’ grapevine in Liaoning, China, by small RNA sequencing. The complete nucleotide sequences of genomic RNA1 and RNA2 of the XF isolate were determined. The sizes of genomic RNA1 and RNA2 of XF isolate were 5 822 and 3 134 nucleotides (nt) respectively. Compared to other available GFabV genomes, XF isolate showed 81.7 ~82.7% and 84.8 ~94.9% in RNA1 polyprotein gene, and 67.2 ~82.8% and 78.0 ~96.1% in RNA2 polyprotein, at the nt and amino acid (aa) level, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis of complete and nearly complete genomic sequences of GFabV isolates showed XF form a separate evolutionary branch. This paper is the first report of the complete genome of GFabV in China.
