Two new phenolic compounds, (1R,2R)-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-methoxypropan-2-ol (1) and (1S,2S)-1-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-1-ethoxypropan-2-ol (2), and one known analog (3) have been isolated from the methanol extract of Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua flowers and identified by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, HSQC, HMBC, HR-ESI-MS, and optical rotations. In addition, compounds 1–3 displayed potential aldose reductase inhibitory activity with IC50 values of 22.16, 17.63, and 28.74 μM, respectively.
