A significant enhancement of fluorine content at the air interface in polyester melamine coatings was achieved by the utilisation of surface-migrating polyfluorooxetane copolymer moieties. The manipulation of the microstructure of the fluorinated polyesters was conducted by utilising a design of experiments (DOE) to quantify and optimise the performance of polyester melamine coatings through the manipulation of the non-cyclic monomer level, the polyfluorooxetane level, the choice of aromatic monomer, and the functionality of the polyester. Changes in stain, solvent and scratch resistances corresponding with the composition of the polyfluorooxetane-modified polyesters were demonstrated.
Résumé
Une amélioration signifiante de la teneur en fluor à l’interface avec l’air des revêtements mélamine polyester a été obtenu grâce à l’emploi des combinaisons copolymère polyfluorooxétane qui migrent à la surface. La manipulation de la microstructure des polyesters fluorés a été accomplie en utilisant un design d’expériences (DOE) pour quantifier et optimaliser la performance des revêtements mélamine polyester par le moyen de la manipulation du niveau monomérique non-cyclique, du niveau polyfluorooxétane, du choix de monomère aromatique et de la fonctionnalité du polyester. On a démontré des changements dans le domaine de la résistance aux taches, aux solvants et aux éraflures, changements qui correspondaient à la composition des polyesters modifiés de polyfluorooxétane.
Zusammenfassung
Wir erzielten eine deutliche Steigerung des Fluoritgehaltes an der Oberfläche von Polyestermelaminlacken unter Verwendung von Oberflächen-migrierenden Polyfluorooxetan-Kopolymerhälften. Wir veränderten die Mikrostruktur des fluorinierten Polyesters mit Hilfe eines experimentellen Designs (DOE) das uns erlaubte, die Leistung von Polyestermelaminlacken durch die Manipulation des nicht-zyklischen Monomergehaltes, des Polyfluorooxetangehaltes, der Wahl des aromatischen Monomers und der Funktionalität des Polyesters zu kontrollieren. Wir zeigten, daß die Veränderung des Polyfluorooxetan-modifizierten Polyesters mit Veränderung in der Widerstandsfähigkeit des Lackes zu Flecken, Lösungsmitteln und Kratzern einhergeht.
