Zusammenfassung
Dieser Artikel befasst sich mit Nebere Aluu, einer Praxis der Zwangsadoption von Kleinkindern durch ihre Großeltern väterlicherseits. Die leiblichen Mütter der adoptierten Kinder stehen im Mittelpunkt dieser Studie, die sich auf Primärdaten stützt, die im Jahr 2021 in Kirgisistan erhoben wurden. Die Autoren analysieren ihre subjektiven Erfahrungen mit dem Ziel, die Praxis aus ihrer eigenen Sicht zu beschreiben und zu erforschen, wie sie sie verstehen, interpretieren und bewältigen. Ihre Berichte werden dann analytisch in Beziehung zu einem breiteren Herrschaftssystem gesetzt, in das Nebere Aluu eingebettet ist. Die Autoren argumentieren, dass die Praxis mehrere vielfältige und komplexe Funktionen erfüllt. Sie wird als Mikrostrategie im Dienste einer patriarchalen Gegenreaktion eingesetzt, die durch wirtschaftliche Ungewissheit und soziale Unsicherheit noch verschärft wird. Sie kann als soziales Schutzsystem für die älteren Eltern der Männer fungieren, deren Fähigkeit, sich auf staatliche Pflegeleistungen zu verlassen, beeinträchtigt ist. Die Ergebnisse deuten auch darauf hin, dass Nebere Aluu als diskursiver Raum funktionieren kann, in dem junge Frauen ihre Identität aushandeln und sich gegen ihre Unterwerfung wehren. Die Kultur des Uyat verhindert jedoch die erfolgreiche Kombination ihrer Rollen als Mütter und Schwiegertöchter. Wenn diese Rollen im Widerspruch zueinander stehen, führt die Entscheidung der Frauen, ihr Recht auf Mutterschaft beizubehalten, zu Stigmatisierung und sozialer Missbilligung und setzt sie der Brutalität des Uyat aus.
