Abstract
In the two boroughs where schools were selected at random by the research team, 5.9% of those who completed the questionnaire indicated that they had sniffed solvents at some time in the past. However, a sizable minority of these cases either denied intoxication or were unsure whether they had been intoxicated. If only those who had “sniffed enough to feel high or intoxicated” are included, the rate becomes 3.6%.
