Abstract
Three species of the gobiid genusCristatogobius found in Japan are reviewed with description of a new species. They areC. aurimaculatus sp. nov. (Japanese name: Hime-tosakahaze),C. lophius (Japanese name: Tosakahaze), andC. nonatoae (Japanese name: Kuro-tosakahaze). Tosakahaze, which had not previously been identified, can now be identified asC. lophius. The three species are elearly distinguishable by the difference in coloration. A key to species is provided.
