Special Issue: Invasive Freshwater Molluscs: biology, pathways and impacts

Freshwater molluscs are a widespread, diverse but also a unique group of molluscs. If on the one hand many species are decreasing dramatically and are now among the most threatened animals on Earth, on the other, several of them are highly invasive with multiple severe ecological and ecological impacts. Invasive molluscs have produced major ecological disturbance by altering ecosystem functioning worldwide and the loss of millions of dollars by clogging pipes, channels, and other physical structures among other effects.

Given that invasive species are among the major threats to biodiversity worldwide, it is, therefore, crucial to gain more comprehension in this field of research. Therefore, we propose a special issue in Hydrobiologia on research related to the invasive biology of freshwater molluscs. To complement these reviews, we especially invite scientific contributions on the following topics: Basic biology and ecology Major pathways and vectors of dispersal; Impacts and Effects; Management. Papers from less well-known regions, such as Africa, Asia and Central America are especially welcome.
