Hemoglobinopathies and other benign red blood cell disorders

Hemoglobinopathies and other benign red blood cell disorders are encountered by diagnostic hematopathologists and by hematologists mainly on examination of patient samples from peripheral blood and bone marrow. This collection will include original articles, case reports, review articles, images, letters to the editor and editorials on various non-neoplastic disorders that cause decreased red blood cell production by ineffective erythropoiesis (e.g., megaloblastic anemia, iron deficiency anemia, etc.), that produce hemolytic anemia by intrinsic red blood cell (RBC) defects (e.g., hemoglobinopathies, membranopathies, enzyme disorders, etc.) or by extrinsic RBC defects (autoimmune hemolytic anemias), or that result in secondary erythrocytoses. Also included are papers on automated analyzers and on ancillary techniques that may aid the process of diagnosing these RBC disorders. Future published submissions on hemoglobinopathies and other benign RBC disorders will be added to this collection. We welcome your contribution.
