Abstract

A number of modern confessional movements worldwide are applying the work of René Girard, especially in training and developing leaders who serve vulnerable communities in the context of poverty and violence. In this chapter, we will consider one such context and several examples of vibrant movements working for peace in a way that addresses the dynamics of rivalry, scapegoating, and ressentiment. At the same time, we will listen to the witness of scripture with ears attuned to the voice of the risen victim and hear whispers of peace.
