Abstract
Although the use of digital technologies in education has increased significantly in recent years around the globe, the problems and challenges of integrating them into teaching differ from country to country. Using modern technologies in teaching in an effective way requires support, motivation, relevant knowledge, skills, competencies, and access to necessary technologies. This chapter discusses why teachers struggle with using technology in the classroom. It also examines why access to technology is a barrier to successful integration, why teachers' professional development is a prerequisite for effective technology use in the classroom, and the ways in which technology is often misused.
