Abstract

Under China’s current “self-contradictory” authoritarian regime, Chinese leaders have clear goals—while Chinese society has developed very well with unprecedented economic growth and liberation, the state remains immobile, unruffled, and impassive, firmly maintaining a monopoly of political power in the hands of the CCP.

    In recent years, there have been a number of cases of elderly people who have fallen on the road in Mainland China. These cases got widespread attention following media reports, outbreaks in China, and raises the question for the Chinese, ‘Would you help an old man stand up when he falls down’?
