Abstract
The development of information technologies and Internet space has a direct impact on all spheres of society, on the development of the economy. The authors of the chapter analyze this influence in three aspects. First, they consider the impact of digitalization on employment and unemployment. The authors come to the conclusion about the ambiguity of this process. Some people see the development of information technologies as a danger of losing their jobs, but the others take it is a chance to work out of the office, successfully combining their work and family responsibilities. The analysis concludes that such opportunities should be equal for all persons with family responsibilities—both women and men. Secondly, in this context, the increase of the retirement age is critically assessed, since it directly hinders the employment of young people, causes the need for additional adaptation of older people to the new requirements of the labor market, and contributes to the accumulation of professional fatigue. Third, the authors analyze the possibilities of employees to maintain their skills in the digital economy and conclude that these opportunities are very limited, and therefore, it is necessary to improve the legislation on guarantees to persons who combine work and study.
