Somatic Embryogenesis in Woody Plants

Part of the book series: Forestry Sciences ((FOSC,volume 67))

Abstract

Traditional herbal medicine has always played a key role in the health system of many countries. An estimated three-quarter of prescribed drugs are derived from plants, and rediscovered because of their prior use in indigenous medicine. The natural resources for plant-based chemicals are limited but the consumer preference for natural products is greater.
