Abstract
In the past the main impetus for investigating host B cell responses during H. pylori infection has been the need to develop accurate, non-invasive serodiagnostic tests. More recently the role of antibodies in the disease process, and the possibility of immunotherapy or vaccination, have become important research areas. In addition H. pylori has provided a unique opportunity for the immunologist to study immune responses to an infection at this unusual mucosal site.
