Abstract

The region comprises the provinces of Córdoba and San Luis where the crystalline basement crops out. Study of the distribution of tungsten and chalcofile ore deposits identified a 500 km long and 50 km wide belt where old and modern ore deposits coexist.

The NNE belt, which is accompanied by important Paleozoic granites and Tertiary volcanics, has strong Bouguer gravity anomalies. This belt includes a block of crust with anomalous thicknesses that practically contains the total of the Tertiary Pb, Zn and Au ore deposits At the margins of the block, where the crust has more typical thickness, tungsten Paleozoic deposits are present. Reactivated Pre-Paleozoic fractures systems control the whole of the magmato-metallogenic events that took place up to the present.
