Abstract

With the advent of recombinant DNA technology, many new potential pharmaceuticals are being produced by industrial fermentation of special host strains of Escherichia coli that carry production vectors based upon the powerful leftward promotor, pL, derived from bacteriophage lambda [19]. The production of human transforming growth factor-alpha (TGF-alpha), described in this paper, is an example of a potential therapeutic product using this technology
