Buikpijn, acute

Onder buikpijn verstaan we pijn die aangegeven wordt in de regio abdominalis. Deze wordt begrensd door ribbenboog, diafragma, laterale randen van de erector spinae, bekkenkam, ligamentum inguinale en symfyse. Een aantal organen in de buikholte bevindt zich deels achter de thoraxwand (lever, milt en nieren) of in het kleine bekken (uterus, adnexen en rectum). In dit hoofdstuk wordt ook pijn in de flank gerekend tot buikpijn. Acute buikpijn kan overigens ook een niet-abdominale oorzaak hebben zoals een myocardinfarct of longembolie.
