Riassunto

La relazione tra suicidio e uso di sostanze psicoattive è stata ampiamente studiata negli ultimi anni. Diverse ricerche hanno confermato la stretta associazione tra le due condizioni e l’aumento del rischio suicidario causato da uso, abuso o dipendenza da sostanze (Borges et al., 2000; Borges e Loera, 2010; Vijayakumar et al., 2011). Tuttavia, tale relazione è tutt’altro che semplice: molti dei meccanismi che portano dall’uso – o dai disturbi correlati all’uso di sostanze – all’ideazione o al TS restano ancora poco chiari; ulteriori approfondimenti sono necessari per meglio comprenderne l’evoluzione e, soprattutto, per poter applicare efficacemente gli interventi preventivi necessari.
