Il flusso ematico cerebrale rappresenta in media il 15% della gittata cardiaca. Il cervello di un adulto sano riceve normalmente circa 50 mL/100 mg/minuto di sangue; di questo l’80% è destinato alla corteccia cerebrale e il 20% alla sostanza bianca. I dati che riguardano il flusso ematico, la pressione di perfusione e l’autoregolazione cerebrale nel paziente pediatrico derivano per la maggior parte da estrapolazioni di dati dell’adulto [1, 2].
