Der objektive Grund der Menstruation ist ca. 70 Jahre bekannt (Bergler 1984) und 1948 erschien das erste Werk, das die Zusammenhänge zwischen psychologischen und endokrinologischen Prozessen aufzuzeigen versuchte: Hormones and Behavior (Beach 1981); es ist somit das erste Werk über Psychoendokrinologie.
