Zusammenfassung
Die Frage nach dem geeigneten theoretischen Rahmen zur Analyse des Arbeitsangebots von Haushalten ist seit den 1990er Jahren Gegenstand von Kontroversen in der ökonomischen Theorie. Bis dahin wurde die theoretische Diskussion von Modellen dominiert, die den Haushalt als Einheit auffassen und innerhalb derer alle Mitglieder eines Haushalts die Maximierung einer einheitlichen Nutzenfunktion desselben anstreben. Diese Modellierung wurde aus theoretischen Gründen kritisiert: Basierend auf der theoretischen Fundierung mit kollektiven Präferenzen können individuelle Präferenzen der Haushaltsmitglieder oder die Parameter, die den die beobachteten Ergebnisse determinierenden Entscheidungsprozess charakterisieren, nicht erfasst werden.
