Zusammenfassung
In der Republik Irland wird Pflegebedürftigkeit als altersbedingt eingestuft, wenn diese erstmals mit dem 65. Lebensjahr oder später aufgetreten und nicht auf Arbeitsunfälle, Berufskrankheiten oder Militärdienst zurückzuführen ist. Um die Vergleichbarkeit mit anderen Länderstudien dieses Projektes zu gewährleisten, werden, sofern möglich, die Daten des Jahres 1992 herangezogen. Unter dem Begriff „alte Menschen“ werden im folgenden Personen verstanden, die das 65. Lebensjahr erreicht haben. Als Hochbetagte werden Personen bezeichnet, die das 75. Lebensjahr erreicht oder überschritten haben.
