Zusammenfassung
Die Beurteilung des kindlichen Skelettes und des Wachstums ist von zentraler Bedeutung in jeder pädiatrischen und orthopädischen Praxis. Das Skelettalter bezeichnet das Maß für einen bestimmten Grad der Skelettentwicklung des gesunden Kindes und kann mit unterschiedlichen Methoden, u.a. am Röntgenbild der linken Hand, ermittelt werden. Neben dieser Momentaufnahme über die Entwicklung des Kindes können mittels Perzentilenkurven oder statistischen Methoden auch Aussagen über die Wachstumsdynamik getroffen werden. Eine genaue Kenntnis des Knochenwachstums ist wichtig um Deformitäten und Haltungsfehler von physiologischen Vorgängen im Rahmen der Skelettreifung zu unterscheiden.
