Zusammenfassung

Bei den somatischen Therapieverfahren lassen sich die Licht- und Wachtherapie von den Hirnstimulationsverfahren unterscheiden. Eine exponierte Rolle ist der Elektrokonvulsionstherapie (EKT) zuzuschreiben, da sie das Hirnstimulationsverfahren darstellt, dessen Daten zur antidepressiven Effektivität aktuell die beste Evidenz aufweisen. Mit der repetitiven transkraniellen Magnetstimulation (rTMS) steht ein weiteres für die Depressionsbehandlung zugelassenes Hirnstimulationsverfahren zur Verfügung. Eine Weiterentwicklung der rTMS stellt die Magnetkonvulsionstherapie (MKT) dar, die aktuell nur im Rahmen von klinischen Studien Anwendung findet, sich möglicherweise aber zukünftig zu einer Alternative zur EKT entwickeln wird. Andere Hirnstimulationsverfahren wie die transkranielle Gleichstromstimulation (tDCS), die Vagusnervstimulation (VNS) und die tiefe Hirnstimulation (THS) spielen ebenfalls in der regulären Patientenversorgung derzeit keine Rolle.
