Abstract
Renal tumors in childhood are variable in presentation, histology and clinical outcome. The vast majority of children with renal tumors are now successfully treated. The history and evolution of the multidisciplinary treatment effort required is described. This effort is a triumph of modern medicine and has served as a paradigm for all multimodal cancer therapy. Data accrued from well designed international cooperative clinical trials has provided a rich database for ongoing clinical trial design and biologic specimens for translational research. The biology, pathology and current treatment for renal tumors in childhood are described.
