Abstract
The machine concerned is a reciprocating spray gun. This machine consists of a spray gun that can be switched on and off and is moved back and forth over a fixed length path, whilst the product to be painted is passed in front of this reciprocating spray gun. Conventionally the control of the spray gun was achieved by toggle switches mounted on a switch bar along the path travelled by the spray gun. This method was suitable for long production runs where there was no need to modify the spraying stroke very often.
