Zusammenfassung

The aim of this work was to increase the ductility of a high-strength aluminum die casting alloy by alloy development while maintaining the same strength without negatively affecting other properties. To increase ductility, it was therefore necessary to identify and minimize the proportion of brittle phases in the microstructure of a typical AlSi10MnMg alloy. In this context, the eutectic silicon crystals and the Al(Fe,Mn)Si phases in particular proved to be critical. The amount of these phases was minimized by a clever combination of chromium, manganese and molybdenum, which made it possible to increase the elongation at break by 40 % while maintaining the same strength.
